Solutions To Help Reduce Greenhouse Gas

Unfortunately, there is no way to completely reduce greenhouse gas overnight. There are options though that will gradually reduce emissions and as a result, lower the amount of greenhouse gas that is heating up our planet. We must be open to alternative forms of energy, solar is one kind, and be willing to sacrifice some of the established ways of doing things that we have become accustomed to. If we are willing to speak up and let our leaders know that we are concerned about these issues, then we can begin to make changes.

To reduce greenhouse gas, we must reduce emissions from the vast numbers of automobiles that we have on the road today, not to mention trucks, factories and all forms of machinery. Automobiles, of course, are the most prevalent. Why, then, aren't we powering them with a cleaner kind of energy, solar for instance? The reason is big business.

It may seem like a monumental task that we'll never be able to attain, but the effort to reduce greenhouse gas will make a difference. Even if we can't reverse the damage that has been done, we can work hard to reduce emissions now and stop the damage in its tracks. For every person who realized the importance of alternative energy sources and chooses to reduce the size of their gaseous footprint, we've taken one step closer to eliminating the greenhouse effect. It may be slow, but progress will be made. It's up to each one of us to make changes ourselves, and to educate those around us to the danger.

Using different kinds of energy, solar for instance, to power our vehicles and our houses will go a long way toward cleaning up the environment. But if we are to reduce emissions significantly, we really need to reduce the number of cars on the road. That's difficult to do, since our cities have developed in such a way so that a person can't live an independent life unless he has his own car. You can't even have one or two cars per family anymore-if there are six people living in a house, chances are, there are six automobiles there. Many people can't even get to work without a car. We can't reduce greenhouse gas significantly until we get to the root of the problem.

The movement reduce greenhouse gas has to start with each one of us. In an effort to reduce emissions, we each need to be willing to make sacrifices that will slowly reduce the amount of gas in our atmosphere. We can protest the production of gas guzzling automobiles all we want, but until we are willing to park out SUV's and find an means of transportation that pollutes less, the automaker's will continue to manufacture them. The only way to eliminate these greenhouse gas producers is to stop buying them. The auto makers make decisions according to their profit margins. We have to hit them where it hurts to force them to make a change.

An Inconvenient Truth DVD An Inconvenient Truth  - Al Gore - DVD

A compelling look at the state of global warming.

Former vice president Al Gore shares his concerns on the pressing issue of global warming in this documentary. A long-time environmental activist, Gore first became aware of evidence on global warming in the 1970s, and since leaving public office he has become a passionate advocate for large- and small-scale changes in our laws and lifestyles that could help alleviate this crisis.

An Inconvenient Truth records a multi-media presentation hosted by Gore in which he discusses the scientific facts behind global warming, explains how it has already begun to affect our environment, talks about the disastrous consequences if the world's governments and citizens do not act, and shares what each individual can do to help protect the Earth for this and future generations.

An Inconvenient Truth was directed by Davis Guggenheim, a veteran documentary filmmaker who also has an extensive background in episodic television. Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
